The Obama administration is behind the step down of President Mubarak from office and the dismantling his own power circle. President Mubarak has announced that Vice President Omar Suleiman will take the lead in the transition – the Vice President also found favor with Hilary Clinton at the Munich Security Conference. So far, negotiations have begun and constitutional reform is in the making, but nothing concrete has been decided due to the lack of time this situation has had to mature.

It seems not all agree with the changes in power taking place. Former U.S. Ambassador, Frank Wisner, stated that he believes the president should continue to lead Egypt in this critical time to press on through the changes. U.S. officials emphasized that Wisner’s words reflected his own opinion and not the ideals of the Obama Administration as a whole. Wisner himself went on to say that his comments were not synchronized with United States government.
